BRENDA CAMACHO, BA
Advanced Clinical Intern (she/her/hers)
Brenda Camacho is an Advanced Clinical Intern at Insight & Action Therapy. She received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology at CUNY School of Professional Studies and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Hunter College. Brenda recently completed her practicum at Hispanic Mental Health Counseling PLLC, working mainly with women of color in the areas of relationships, depression, dependency, anxiety and self-esteem. As a first generation Mexican American, Brenda understands the importance of mental health and societal pressures in marginalized communities. She sees individuals as well as couples and welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities.
As a clinician, Brenda strives to establish an environment in which clients feel comfortable, safe, and free of judgment. Brenda believes that everyone has the strength and resilience to become their best self. In an effort to do so, Brenda aims to help clients recognize and focus on their strengths, recognize dysfunctional patterns, and help guide them to deeper levels of awareness.
Brenda’s experience is primarily grounded in Psychodynamic Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She also incorporates mindfulness techniques, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in her therapeutic work. As therapy is not “one size fits all,” Brenda strives to know her clients on a deep level and apply her broad knowledge of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client.
